In the past I have not been one to check inside my oven before setting it to preheat. After this week I am sure I will check every time before turning on the oven.
Recently Alexis and Jordyn have been cooking in my kitchen instead of playing with their own kitchen. They will bring me random things that we have placed in their cooking drawer and it is some sort of food they have "made." Anyway the other day Alexis had been making me things to eat and we had cleaned up all the cooking things to start getting ready for dinner. I turned on the oven to preheat and then I went and took the girls upstairs to watch a show while I made dinner. Well when I came downstairs I was greeted with a small fire in the oven. That was thrilling. Apparently Alexis had put a hard plastic item in the oven to "cook" and didn't take it out of the oven and I didn't remember her putting anything in there. So it caught fire and melted all down into a hard plastic puddle at the bottom of my oven.

Oh no! Good thing you caught it early on.. Is your stove still usable?
My cousins "hid" Halloween candy in a bucket in their oven, later turned it on to preheat and caught half of their kitchen on fire. It was awful..
oohhh.. The sweet little darlings. Those are the kinds of days you're not sure whether you want to scream or laugh your head off.
I should remember this for later... I'm sure it will happen at my house as well.
