House 7-27-2010

The trusses are going up! This is so fun watching the house take shape. Now we can see how the ceiling is going to vault and soon be able to see Alexis and Jordyn's room. Rusty has been worried about the ceiling heights all this time and now he will be able to see them and be put at ease.

This is a view of the family room from the front entry.

This is the back of the house. The big opening in the trusses on the left side is what will be my scrapbook room or a bedroom if we need it one day.

This is the front of the house. The hole you can see that goes all the way thru the house on the right is our second floor. The front part of the space is Alexis and Jordyns room.

24th of July

We started off the day by watching the parade on tv. The girls really liked it because they could remember seeing the floats in real life earlier that week. Rusty was sick the night before and still kind of recovering so we really didn't do too much during the afternoon. We did go to The Home Depot to look at their kitchen displays for ideas. We have to choose our kitchen soon, that is a little nerve racking. I want it to look good and I am not an interior decorator so I am not exactly sure what to do and I have to live with it for the rest of my life, so it has to be just right. Anyway we went to and rana few other errand at two other stores and then we went home and sat around. Alexis, Jordyn and I made dessert for our BBQ we were going to later that evening. After we were done making the dessert we went for a walk to see the house while Rusty and Taylor napped. Jordyn thought it was pretty cool to see the house with walls and walk around in it. When we got back from the house Rusty got a call to go into work for an hour then when he got home we left for Aunt Sheays house. We had a bbq and played games and did fireworks to end the day. It was a fun day and Taylors first 24th of July, that is why most of the pictures are of her.

Tay was really enjoying her drink. She thought she was so cool drinking out of a straw.

Alexis and Gracie sitting in their lawn chairs enjoying the firework show in the street.

Tay liked watching the fireworks I thought she would be afraid like Jordyn, but she wasn't.

Everyone watching the fireworks.

House 7-21-2010

It has almost been 2 months since our hole was started and now our main level of our house is all framed. this is so exciting! I can now walk thru the house and see exactly were rooms, bathrooms, and hallways are. I love it! it now looks like it could be a house to anyone that comes by it.

This is looking down the hall to the bedrooms from what will be the kitchen. You can see the the stairs going down to the basement and soon there will be stairs above those going upstairs.

This is a view of the family room and the hall. I am taking the picture from what will be our nook or also known as dining area.

Once again I am standing in the nook but now I have rotated to the right and this is a picture of what will soon be the kitchen. You can see the pantry on the right. Beyond the wall is the living room and to the left is the entry from the front door.

This is a view of the house from the garage. Carter's room is on the far left. The ramp goes to the house door from the garage and on the right is the laundry room.

Pioneer Day Float preview

For Grandma day on July 20th we went to the Expo Center and saw the floats that were to be in the Days of '47 parade. We went with my Sister-in-laws on my side and all their kids and with my mom and 2 of my mom's sisters and their kids and my cute Grandma Trimble. The kids were surprisingly behaved and all had a good time seeing all the floats.

This was one of my favorite floats. I loved the bright colors and the characters were so well done.

This was Carter and Seth's favorite float because it was the BYU

Boating with the Gibson's

We got invited to go boating on Saturday morning and were excited to do so. The girls were really excited to go on the boat. They kept telling Grandma and Grandpa they were going to ride the boat.
I thought Taylor would be less than thrilled to have the life jacket on but she didn't seem to mind too much. This was her first time boating.

Taylor loved watching Brian wake board. She did the same thing when I was out on the water. Jillian said she kept saying "ma ma ma" That is one of her new words. I was excited I got up on the wake board the first time. I did have one really good fall that gave me a major headache, but I had alot of fun. I haven't wake boarded since before I had Alexis, I think.

The kids were all having a great time. Alexis kept looking back at me with a big grin glued on her face, but she would always turn back around to watch the water before I could get a picture of her giddiness.

The kids didn't want to get out on the tube, but they did jump in the lake and swim around.

While Brian was cleaning the boat we took the kids to the beach to play.
Taylor kept trying to eat sand, Jordyn wanted to play in the water but would not put her feet down, she thought there was a monster in the water. We think she didn't like the feeling of the mud under her feet. The other kids had a great time. they were saying they were on an adventure. And were out playing in the water.

If you were wondering why Rusty was not with us he was fishing with Carter and Jake. Which apparently wasn't so good for Rusty, he got sick, but Carter and Jake caught quite a few fish.

Bicycle Parade

Our ward did a Bicycle Parade for a primary activity the kids thought they were pretty cool. Friday afternoon we decorated the girls bikes and then Friday evening we met up at the beginning of the parade route and I dropped Alexis and Jordyn off and then Taylor and I went to go find Grandma and Grandpa so we could sit with them to watch the parade.

They had a guy in the ward drive his fancy car to start off the parade. Alexis was all about being in front and leading the pack.

Here is a better shot of Alexis

Jordyn was a little bit further down the parade route, She was taking her time and enjoying her moment in the spot light.

We then all met up at the neighborhood park and had social time and snow cones.
it was really fun. I am so excited to be in a ward with so many more young kids for my kids to be friends with.

Rusty was out in Tooele watching Carter play baseball and wasn't able to make it to the parade.

House 7-15-2010

The house is taking shape. We finally have exterior walls. We are so excited to see the progress in our house.
This is the west and north back walls of our house.
The far right window is the master bedroom window. The next window to the left is Taylor's room. Then there is a group of 3 windows those are the family room. Then to the left of those is a door to the back yard and the far left window is our dining room. The small window on the west wall is for the kitchen above what will someday be a sink.

The Dentist

The girls got to go to the dentist today. This was Alexis' second visit and Jordyn's first. Alexis did not do well at all her first visit so I have been prepping her for awhile. I even had her come with me to the Dentist a month ago. She did really well this time. Jordyn was a little nervous I had to hold her hand, but I was very proud of her for how well she did.

She was a little nervous about getting her x-ray.

Wrap up of our visit-
Alexis apparently has a cross bite. And her teeth are already a little crowded in her mouth. We are doomed to braces and she has something that is close to maybe becoming a cavity between her teeth due to how close they are crammed together. They suggested we start a little orthodontic care now for her to try to fix her cross bite which in turn might also make a little room for her teeth.
And apparently Jordyn has three or for underdeveloped teeth that are a little more susceptible to cavities. We have an awful lot of brushing and flossing ahead of us.

House 7-15-2010

We almost have a main level floor.

Golfing with the Girls

Lately the girls have been really big into noticing golfers around town when we drive by golf courses, Alexis has mentioned a few times that she would like to go golfing so Saturday evening we decided to take the girls miniature golfing. We had a really good time. I especially enjoyed the outing because I beat Rusty and he was so irritated. Hee hee :)

Here is Daddy showing the girls the proper way to golf.

When Alexis would golf it kind of looked like she was sweeping. it was so fun to watch her. She was a speed golfer and boy she was sure proud of herself every time she got the ball in the hole. There were 2 times she almost got a hole in one and 2 or 3 other times she got it in 2 shots. I was pretty impressed.

Jordyn lost interest after about 3 holes so then Taylor got to be the keeper of her club. She didn't seem to mind, it gave her something to play with and Jordyn would push her around and give her rides.

Jordyn also passed the time playing in the water, rolling down stone paths and adding a little spice to the course by making herself an added obstacle.

House 7-14-2010

Framing finally began today. It's amazing and very exciting. This is the really fun part. We finally get to see the house really come to life now. As of tonight when we went and looked at the house we have a our baring walls in the basement. There are two framed walls that are running parallel to each other, those are the walls running down each side of the stairs to the basement. I can't wait to see what they get done tomorrow.

House 7-12-2010

Today they poured the floor for the garage. Last week I was told they were going to start framing today, but that didn't happen. Am I surprised? Not really. I pretty much plan on everything running behind, that is why even though my builder tells me he plans on being done in October I am just hoping to be moved in before Christmas.

House 7-9-2010

We have a basement floor! Today they poured the floor for the basement. It would have been nice if they could have done the garage floor too, but we are going to have to wait til Monday for that.

House 7-6-2010

Today we heard from the West Jordan guy and he said we do not need a french drain or sump pump. He think the water levels are okay and we should not have any flooding problems. That makes me a little nervous. I lived in a house that flooded a few times and I hated it. So I will need to remember his name is Jason and if I have any flood problems I am coming after him. So now we get to move on with our house. This week they will back fill around the entire house and they are suppose to pour the concrete in the basement and the garage. And then the real fun begins. They plan to start framing on Monday. Hooray! I can't wait.

House 6-20-2010 thru 7-2-2010

I know I haven't written much lately, but much has not happened on the house lately. Last week nothing happened because we were waiting for a guy from West Jordan city to let us know if we needed to put a water drainage system and sump pump in the house or not. The week before they had the plumbing inspection which they failed and then a stop work order was put on the project because we had to fix the plumbing issues and they had to dig a test hole below our footing to see where the water level is around our home. There was water in the hole and and a geo tech had to come do a study to see if we needed a drainage system. They did waterproof the foundation the week before last and put in the window wells last week, but that is all. They did try to back fill the back of the house but they then had to dig it back out, because they put the window wells in too high. And now Rusty and I are trying to decide if we want to get rid of the window wells all together in the back and just do a rock retaining wall to expose all the back windows.
